Use Linkedin sales navigator to search for companies and people from companies. If your target audiance are students also, search for students and start pitching the event. Also promote this event on LinkedIn.
I do believe that networking & word-of-mouth are the best tools to promote academic conferences. Just ask professors and researchers from your department/university to post a conference announcement on their social media pages (ResearchGate, LinkedIn, or even Facebook).
If you manage to attract a fairly popular keynote speaker, ask him/her/their to share the announcement on his/her/their feed. I know a professor in my field who is both a highly cited author and a very active social media influencer... and I can't imagine a more effective conference advertisement than a post on his LinkedIn :)
Twitter! Some colleague with 500+ academic network could repost 2-3 times. There is an active academic chatter, especially in Philosophy of Technology, but also in Information Systems somehow - could be also in Marketing?
