Can anyone tell me what is the standard method for digesting soil samples for analyzing heavy metals and rare earth elements using ICP-MS. It will be very helpful if you can share any link or article as a reference in this regard. Thanks!

it should work also without MW just on a hotplate, just increase the time for digestion!

fuse the soil with sodium carbonate/potasium carbonate at 850 it will dissolved in dil HCl.
Check this paper, 'Bioremediation of industrially contaminated soil using compost and plant technology'. The procedure is highlighted in the paper.
I g of sieved soil is to be digested to dryness in an acid mixture of HNO3 and HClO4 (3:1 v.v) and redissolved in 10-20 % HNO3 in deionized water. Please refer to the paper attached.
