I need to run NMR H1 and NMR C13 for neat silicone polymer (polydimethylsiloxane, short name PDMS-100). How I need to prepare the sample for NMR analysis. Do I need to dissolve the polymer in organic solvent first and then run both C13 and H1 NMR? If yes, what will be the right volume ratio for polymer/ solvent?

Hi Iryna,
For NMR you need to have a deutereted solvent that dissolves very well your polymer and doesn't have rezidual signals in the area you are experiencing signals from your polymer.
You can do solubility tests with a regular solvent before starting to work with the deuterated solvent.
For 1H-NMR you need around 10 mg polymer, and for 13C-NMR 50-100 mg polymer dissolve this in 0.7 mL deuterated solvent.
You can acquire the 1H spectrum in 5-10 min, for 13C you need to leave it 24 or 48 h depending on the signal to noise ratio.
