Gold Nanoparticle XRD sample preperation: What will be the effect of ligand/satabilizing agent attached on it's surface? Does XRD pattern differs with size or oxidation state GNP?
To do XRD for GNP you may need powder XRD equipment. The most standard method to prepare the sample is to fullfill the the pit in the center of a glass sample holder with GNP and make the surface flat (the surface of your sample should not be higher or lower than the sample holder). If the ligand do not crystallize then it may not affect the result, but you should dry the samples before analysis. The size will affect the half-height width of the XRD peak(smaller the size, wider the peak). And so does the shape (some times it will influence the ratio of different peaks.) I am not quite clear about the "oxidation state". Does not the GNP means unoxidized gold? Hope it will help~~~
