many part per million (ppm) of sulphur (S) present in a solution result from dissolving 0.05 g sulphur in 100 ml of water?
Hii....
Generally 1 ppm mean 1mg in 1000ml of solvent. In you case, 50mg in 100ml means 500ppm...so for 1ppm dilute it by 500 times..
Best wishes..
Mr Chaudhary's reply is the correct one. For 1ppm dilite 1 ml of 500 ppm to 500 ml with the solvent.
I think ,There is 500 ppm S in solution
Dear all thank you very much.
Dear my friend I agree with the colleagues .You know the PPM is derived from the fact that the density of water is taken as 1kg/L = 1,000,000 mg/L, and 1 mg/L is 1mg/1,000,000 mg or one part in one million. also 1 ppm = 1ug /ml = 1000ug/L .
How to prepare ppm?
ppm equals t mg/L (ppm = mg/L)
In addition 0.05 g S equals 50 mg S (50 mg S/100 ml of water)
If 100 ml of water contains 50 mg S
1000 ml (1 L) of water contains 500 mg S In other word 500 mg S/L = 500 ppm
1000 ml (1 L) of water contains 500 mg S In other word 500 mg S/L = 500 ppm S
ppm= (mass of solute g / mass of solvent g ) * 10^6
ppm = ( 0.05 g / 100 g )* 10^6
= 500 ppm
