I want to do a skew correction on the license plates (do perspective transformation). In some sources, they have first detected four-points and then computed the homography matrix. In my case, it is very difficult to compute the four corners of the license plates. In that case, is there any solution to tackle this type of situation?

As an idea, first detect the character region of the number plate as ROI. Then, Calculate the bounding rectangle of ROI. After that, best matching of ROI with a predefined horizontal number plate image. Best matching can be found by varying the ROI angle.
