I am facing some serious issue related to death of Arabidopsis plants due to inflorescence drooping. I have used Bavistin and Chlorpyrifos for curtailing this infection. I can't see any aphids and spider mites nor any fungal infection but still the plants are drooping and I am unable to get seeds. I am wondering what can be done to stop this?
Please cut the stem of infected plants if you see browning in vascular bundles than it is affected by wilt. To know whether it is bacterial wilt or fungal wilt cut 1 cm infected stem and dip in one glass of clean water if after 15 minuted oozing is there then it is bacterial oozing then please apply 300 ppm streptomycin for drenching the plants particularly root zone other wise apply tilt (Propicanozole) because now a days nos of root / soil pathogens have developed resistance to Bavistin.
Sir, thank you for your suggestion i will definitely try this one but i have one query that Propiconazole Is a Specific Brassinosteroid (BR) Biosynthesis Inhibitor for Arabidopsis will it not affect the plant morphology. also now i can see that the healthy siliques of the infected plants are also dying out and it seems that all of the cellular fluid is dried out and the seed formed is also lost.
There are many other excellent fungicides like headline, twinline which not only act as fungicide but also promotes growth. You can also try Trichoderma based biofungicides for seed treatment but it can not be used for host-pathogen interaction studies in Arabidopsis.
This might be the consequence of a virus. We have seen similar symptoms, which went along with thrips infection. The actual virus has not been found, but removing all plant showing symptoms and radically treating thrips eventually helped to overcome the problem. Best is to start fresh in a new greenhouse, but that is not always feasible.
