I designed 2D plasmonic strip and also slot waveguides using metal by means of Comsol and I am going to reach the maximum EFR versus width and height of the waveguide. I calculated EFR using integration of poynting vector in z direction over cladding region which is air and then divided it by the integration of same parameter over whole geometry of waveguide. However, I am not able to find specific width and height for my waveguide. The problem is the more I reduce the width of the waveguide, the more EFR I obtain and I do not get the optimum values for them.

what is the problem and what should I do?
