How to optimize minimal media?

Hello!

I am trying to grow species of bifidobacteria on a minimal media using different the sole carbon sources. I haven't had any luck so far with my formula:

100 ml distilled water
2 grams agar
1 gram casamino acids
5.64 grams M9
1 gram carbon source (ex. chitooligosaccharides, dextrose)

How can I optimize this formula to get my bacteria to grow?
