The fastest method of optimization of all parameters is the simplex method. Example at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0003267094900450

It saves your time, but the down side is that you don't get lovely graphs for optimizing the parameters.

However, one can use the simplex method first to find the global optimum, and then use this point as a starting point for varying parameters in both directions to obtain those graphs.
