How to obtain serum from removed plasma from plasma exchange?

Our lab has considerable amounts of removed plasma from patients that underwent plasma exchange therapy. In order to use these for our experiments we would like to obtain serum from them. We already tried defibrination, but it doesn't seem to be sufficient. Does anybody else have a different method?
