I am using Labchart 5 to record intra-carotid & intra-ventricular pressure. Can anyone suggest how can we obtain dp/dt minimum and maximum? After selecting the pressure waves during a specific time period am I supposed to select the maximum slope and minimum slope in the data pad option?
The dp/dt is the first derivative of the pressure waves. To do it easily in LabChart, set up an additional monitoring channel. The channel will be configured to perform a derivative calculation. (You will specify first order in the menu). You will then identify the intra-carotid and/or intra-ventricular pressure channel as the source channel. For example, our LV pressure wave is Channel 2. Our dp/dt is Channel 4. Channel 4 reads the pressure wave from Channel 2 and then immediately calculates the first order derivative (dp/dt). It works quite well and gives you real-time data.

Well, what about the units? How shall I set it? And another thing, I need to have min dp/dt & max dp/dt. How can they be obtained from one channel?
If your pressure channels are in mmHg, then the dp/dt will be mmHg/sec. The dp/dt channel that you create will calculate the first derivative of the up-slope and down-slope of your pressure waves so both +dp/dt and -dp/dt "waves" will appear in the channel. You can read the values by hand or use the data pad option to "read" those values for you.
If I wish to read via data pad I shall use maximum slope and minimum slope options right?
Once the dp/dt calculation channel is created in LabChart, you should be able to designate max and min dp/dt values in the data module.
