Hello
I am trying to define a simple RC beam element in OpenSees. I know exactly how to define the concrete and steel fibers and it works fine. However, I need to model the beam in a way that I can see the steel-concrete bond. My idea is to define the concrete and steel sections SEPERATELY and on top o each other (same coordinates) and put springs (with a big stiffness) to tie them together and make the concrete and steel section work together. But unfortunately, they will NOT work together in this way (OpenSees sees these two sections as two separate elements).
My question is that, is there any way that I make the steel fiber section and concrete fiber section that defined separately work together (Perfect Bonding)?
sorry if I explained this question confusingly? I hope someone can help me.

The papers you shared were very helpful. I understood that for modeling rebar-concrete bond, there is no need to model using zero length elements to assign the bond behavior to it. It is possible to just adjust/modify the steel material in OpenSees. The paper ("Study On Fiber Element Used For Simulate SRC Component") used an equation to consider the bond-slip distribution. However, they did not explain they actually implemented that into the OpenSees and/or their modeling!!
Do you guys have any idea on how to modify a steel material in OpenSees?

I read the paper (Article Study on Fiber Element Used for Simulate SRC Component
) carefully. I don't know if you took a look at this paper, but it lacks many information on how they incorporated bond-slip into the steel material.Yes, you are right on using ReinforcingSteel material, or Hystertic material (that I found in this paper: Article Reinforcement model considering slip effect
), but I still don't know, regardless of what material we use, how should we modify the steel strain (ε)-stress(fs) behavior using a bond slippage(s)-stress(τ) behavior?!

OpensSees has a wide range of analysis. Can you say in what field you wanna use OpenSees? What type of structure you need to learn modeling?
Anyway, I recommend start with very small examples (available in OpenseesWiki library) and complete that model gradually.
