1:how to model all the elements of concrete frame with BRBs using ABAQUS, the interactions between different parts, especially the interaction between the core BRB and the casing segment
2:how to correctly model the gusset plate connecting the BRB to the frame to capture the nonlinear behavior of the gusset plate.

in your case which I don't know what output do you expect, you can easily use the tie constraint.

Thanks a lot for your answer.
You know, in the test specimen, the BRBs and the frame are pinned by bolts,and so in the modeling, I just connect the surface of frame and the gusset of BRB by coupling using a reference points, and I don't know whether it is right or not because I have not got the model processed successfully.
Besides, considering that the core segment and the restrained casing segment do not have friction in reality, I do not how to model the interaction. And if I use the tie constraint, I think it can not well reflect the real interaction between the core and the restrained segment. But, I did use tie constraint between the BRB and the gusset to moded welding.
The case that the model just can not converge during the analysis process when loaded horizontal displacement, and I try a lot, nothing changed but failure.
If you have any idea of my model , I will appreciate that if you can do me a favor on the model.
