I am trying to mesh this half threaded bolt but abaqus crashes. I have tried meshing with tet in ANSYS, although it worked but I was unable to import it to Abaqus. I am thinking of trying out Hypermesh, what's your suggestion?
It difficult to have hex mesh on tread bolt , however you give tie constraint and apply bolt load if that might serve you purpose then that is fine else you go for tet mesh. I use bolt by ties constraint ad bottom and apply the boalt displacement or boalt load
Saurabh Rai Thanks, I only used Hex mesh for the bolt head but even with tet, the abaqus crashes every time. I tried bottom-up approach but it gives error also. I will probably go for hypermesh and see how it turns out.
But one can't partition the threaded part. so, that would only mesh till the end of the shank and not the full model.
