I need to take conductivity and impedance measurements for my membranes and in connection to this I need to ask about a few things I couldn't figure out exactly.
First of all is it possible to convert impedance data to conductivity or vice versa if so how can I do that?
Secondly on what basis do I decide which medium to make my measurements in, because literature uses many including distilled water and even 0.1M sulfuric acid?
Thirdly what about frequency range and voltage since I intend to use gamry potentiostat to carry out the test and how big a factor can this be to my measurements?
If there are any detailed publications or references that you guys can suggest to help me I would appreciate the gesture too.
Membrane conductivity in distilled water at high frequency deteen 50kh -1hz (you use different temperature), i think this is only electronique conductivity.
Baut in your case , you need to determine the exchange proton membrane
for this goal , you need to do in symetric cell , membrane and some different acide concentration. In this case you determine the ion transfert coeficient.
By bruce method you can !! In this case you need different spectra eis (100kh-1mhz)

agreed with Fan Xu. conductivity and impedance data can be converted into each other. As far as the medium is concerned , the people working in that area may have better idea. ac technique is best to get the conductivity because ac techniques give u the benefit of taking care of electrode effects.
