Measurement of static pressure-Pitot static tube: A slender tube aligned with the flow can measure local velocity by means of pressure differences. Ithas sidewall holes to measure the static pressure ps in the moving stream and a hole in the front tomeasure the stagnation pressure po, where the stream is decelerated to zero velocity. The pitot static tubemay also be of the modified ellipsoidal-nose type. The tube has a very small diameter compared to that ofthe duct diameter, but the resultant error caused by the additional blockage effect is considered minimal for this investigation.

The objective of this laboratory session is to measure the static pressure variation in water flowalong a converging-diverging channel and to compare it to estimates based on Bernoulli’s equation.

By U-Tube water manometer, or pressure sensors, statoc pressure can also be measured.
Measurement of satic heat: Heaters (dimmerstat or variable resister) can be provided to measure static heat
