Hi, I'm a first year student in psychology and I'm makin a study of public conformity measuring the conformity in an elevator. We will have four people (independet variable) facing the opposite wall from the door and one individual (dependet variable) that will enter the elevator. How do I measure conformity in this case?
time taken to conform, and numbers of people who did or did not conform by changing their behaviour. Been done many times before.
Thank you! But do you count a person as conformed if it has turned almost in the same direction as the majority?
Petter Alke You would need to discuss such details with your supervisor. I would think that you probably need a graded assessment of response, that is, those who turn completely and those who partially turn and how much is a partial turn such as 75% or 50%, and so on. in the videos i have seen participants turned 100% to face the rear, but the video may have only included certain cases.
