Hi everyone,

I need some help regarding how to carryout fluorescence measurements. I am a beginner in this area and I need someone to point me in the right direction. I am trying to prepare a composite of zinc oxide and a fluorescent dye (solvatochromic dye) for luminescent sensing applications. Our lab has a fluorolog-3 spectrofluorometer which has not been used for a long time and the solid sample holder is probably missing, although we hope to get one soon. But first, I need to be able to evalute the performance of my fluorescent composite with different solvents. Where I need help is this: how can I prepare my sample for fluorescent detection experiment? Do I suspend a known amount of the solid powder in each solvent and put it in a cuvette and measure? Or I suspend the powder in one solvent and added a calculated volume of other solvents one at a time for measurements? Thank you very much for your kind responses.
