I need to make oleylamine water soluble so that i can use that to make heterostrructures of one water mediated synthesized material and other oleylamine mediated material.
Oleylamine (C18H35NH2) with a terminal amino group can be made water-soluble by the old "trick" of treating a large amine with hydrochloric acid to render it H2O-soluble.
In your case, my advice is to use minimum amount of HCl(aq) to form the olylammonium salt which is obviously water-soluble. If you want to re-convert it to an amine, addition of a base can make that possible.
A polymeric surfactant, amphiphilic diblock copolymer or an amphiphilic structure like Sodium dodecyl sulfate may help you to stabilize oleylamine in water. Oleic acid is a similar structure and we use tween 80 to solubilize it in water (at 80 degree).
