I agree with Peterson K. Ozili that you cannot make money from this method. I see it more as only an opportunity to become better known in my field by others also in this field. I think of it as an academic (and not-for-profit) benefit rather than a commercial opportunity.
Dear Erastus Kiswili Nyile, I think you are misunderstanding publishing on a science portal like RG. I agree with the position of the previous speakers Peterson and Joseph. In my opinion, the scientific portal is a place to present your scientific achievements, develop a repository of your various studies and ideas for research and practical implementations to industry and services. I certainly do not publish here for money, and the citations I have received and which are counted by several institutions in the world do not result in any financial rewards. The rule is that if your works are good and useful to other scientists and practitioners in their work, they refer to your specific scientific or popular science work, and even to the conference presentation, if it is inspiring for them. Citations build prestige and trust in a given scientist, but do not constitute a source of financial income. Although I know cases of several scientists, for whom many citations in recognized international journals made it possible to receive a scholarship or was one of the factors of obtaining a scientific award, and even allowed them to gain an advantage and obtain a scientific position at a prestigious university. However, in my opinion, publishing on the RG portal can not be compared in any way to what subscriptions or likes on social networking sites such as Youtube or FB give. Summing up, in my opinion, the citations and recommendations received on scientific portals from other academics confirm the value of your work so far, facilitate professional contacts, allow you to obtain invitations to participate in team projects, give you a chance to find partners to write articles, they are a great formula for exchanging experiences, discussions and inspirations. (you have citations for that). Moreover, what is super important, the professional environment is integrated and the motivation for further creative work is released, which in my opinion cannot be overestimated. Best regards and more citations:)
