Hi,
I'm building a part of a device which is supposed to hold a water-based dye for prolonged time (weeks/months). Diameter should be 5mm, and the part should ideally break (or punctured) easily so the dye would spill out.
Currently I'm making it with liquid silicon in elevated temperatures, but it is more prone to mistakes.
Any ideas on how can I make/ where can I buy such a fillable sphere?
Dear Shlomi, surely you have seen these fluorescent light sticks for outdoor camping, they have a thin wall glass ampoule inside that contains a chemical that when broken reacts with the liquid inside the plastic stick. May be the easy way would be to make the spheres by yourself by glass blowing. It is relatively simple, you just need glass Pasteur pipettes and a Bunsen torch, first seal one side, and then heat that sealed end, blow from the other part and a sphere will be formed, let it get cold and fill the sphere with your dye solution, finally seal with flame the sphere and cut it from the rest of the glass pipette.
