Kindly help me out in making plant extract dose for animal.
This formula may help
Vol of extract to administer = [desired dose (mg/kg) x weight of animal (kg)]/concentration of stock (mg/ml)
Roughly , each 250 mg of the extract should be dissolved in 2.4 ml, (so the mean of rat weight is about 250 g), each 4 rats = 1 kg , then you can give 0.6 ml for each rat ( the final dose is 250 mg/kg). If you have large numbers of rats you can multiply the dose and the volume by any number (for example 250 mg X 10 = 2500 mg of extract dissolved in 2.4 ml X 10=24 ml) and each rat gave 0.6 ml
thanks sir, and if i have to use 200 mg of plant extract for 1 kg rabbit daily for 21 days through vehicle volume of 0.6 ml. Then what will be the calculation
You can dissolve 1000 mg in 12 ml . Give each rat ( wt about 250 g ), 0.6 ml of the dissolved material. ie each rat recieved 50mg in 0.6 ml ( that is mean you give 200mg / kg)
Dissolve each gram of extract in 3 ml
\ , and use 0.6ml for each kg of rabbit ( according to its weight )
