I have calculated the reflectance of a material and then converted the reflectance into its absorbance by using the Kubelka Munk function using the equation
F(R)=[(1-R)*2]/2R
If n =1/2 then the band gap is 1.81 eV, however when n =2 the band gap is 2.46 eV. (Please look at the attached figures). But how do I say what kind of transition the material has. Is it direct or indirect? Please provide some suggestions. Thanks in advance
In addition to reflection, absorption, transmission and scattering can be used. And take into account the conservation of energy.
All semiconductors have both transitions: direct and indirect.

P Grima Gallardo: Thank you for the answer. But when we talk of some materials such as InAs, GaAs etc we say that these are direct band gap material while Si is an indirect band gap material.
Similarly, for the material which I have shown in the figure, I calculated both direct and indirect band gap. So how to say whether the material is a direct band gap or an indirect band gap semiconductor???
