So im looking through KEGG pathways and the plan was that, if I can compare the different versions of the same pathway from different organisms, i can have a better understanding of the origin of metabolites. but the question rises when i see certain compounds appear in human pathways.

for example, I'm looking at HSA00440 for Phosphonate and phosphinate metabolism. the pathway for Bialaphos (which seems like a bacteria-produced herbicide) is included.

my question is, is KEGG reliable for my purpose (which I want to know the origin or organism that the metabolite can be found)?

if not, what database or other online source should I use?

Thanks!
