I am trying to measure the contact angle on SW-30-HR(RO-membrane). I am using the sessile droplet method (microliter syring to dispense the drop volume).
I am maintaining the same drop volume of 0.5 micro-liter on the different surface points from the dispenser.
Since the RO membrane is soft, have curl in it. So, it is difficult to keep it flat and do the contact angle test on a glass surface. taping it will affect the quality of the membrane.
Have you considered hanging the film vertically and using Neuman's method (a Wilhelmy plate approach) to determine contact angle?
Hi, as for my experiment, there is no need to worry about using double sides tape to glue the membrane on the glass slide, only if you want to measure the same piece of membrane for other surface characterization measurement like captive bubble contact angle, AFM etc. So, maybe if you can offer more information about what you need to do for the following test, it would be good to consider this.

Have you considered making a holder that would press along edges of the film to stabilize a flat region from curling? My first thought is something as basic as an open metal ring that you lay on top of the film. The weight holds it down. Do contact angle and AFM inside the ring.

I will check if the idea of placing the ring would work. there are some trivial issue with it because contact angle characterization is applicable for topographically hard and smooth surfaces. so, the whole surfaces has to be homogeneously & exactly flat.
