I have used EDX-SEM to identify the elements present in my powdered sample later I have used XRD got the results, now how to interpret the results to find the chemical compounds present in my samples? How to identify from the obtained peaks?
Compare the peak positions with standard ICDD/JCPDS data. If all the peaks of a particular phase are matching, then that phase could be confirmed by keeping in mind the starting materials and possible phase formations.
You mentioned that you are about to find "chemical compounds". Therefore I wouldn't suggest XRD as an accurate method for this purpose. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), to the best of my knowledge is the only way to determine chemical compounds of a material. XRD is good case for studying simple mineral/inorganic crystals. As soon as you start working with complicated alloys or organic materials, it would be extremely difficult and inaccurate to work with XRD. However I would recommend you to start learning X-Pert which is the most famous app for analyzing xrd graphs.
