One thing to watch out for is the issue of how to account for the GHG impacts of using timber/wood products in construction. The conventional wisdom has been to assume that wood/timber are GHG neutral or GHG positive, In most cases this is wrong and results from a GHG accounting error. Please review this paper on why burning biomass for energy is not climate friendly. Many of the same reasons apply to why scaling up mass timber in construction is also not a good idea (or biofuel for that matter) from the perspective of climate mitigation. And that in many cases the GHG footprint of timber is worse than alternative man-made construction materials. The use of land has a very GHG cost. There is a finite amount of land to meet people's needs. If we keep expanding the working land footprint it results in massive amounts of stored carbon in natural ecosystems being released. This is a very real GHG cost of expanding land-intensive products like biomass energy, beef, and timber.
