we are producing some metal powders alloy where some time we found less hardness (around 10-15HRB) and sinter density (95%). somebody can help out how to increase the hardness, sinter density of the matrix?
Higher temperature of sintering, hot pressing, hot isostatic pressing, additives that decreases the friction of powders during sintering (MnS for example or some organic lubricants)
powder metallurgy text books may give you ideas, additives will depend on the metal you are trying to sinter. Some metals can be cold pressed to high density which will also help in sintering.
thanks. most of our bonds are iron based. normally we work with Fe, Cu, Sn, Zn, Ni, Co, Mn, Mo as Fe as major elements. we follow mechanically alloying and the diffusion it certain temp. is there any binder which could help to get cold compaction and better sinter density?
