I am planning to conduct a survey of civil engineering undergraduate students. However, I got some struggle in the past to get enough response rates. Do you have any strategy for this?
1) Who should I contact to help me conduct a survey in the class? Should I contact people in my connections or outside of my connections?
2) Should I apply any strategy to increase the response rate?

One effective way is to use an audience response system, clickers or smartphone-based, in combination with a synchronous presentation. If students instantly see what other students answer on the same question, anonymously of course, it is s big motivating factor, it helps to compare oneself with the others in a risk-free way. Some systems also allow free text answers, not only multi- choice alternatives. It demands of course that students are gathered for a lecture or something, and that the survey is relevant in the context.
In many countries, students are an over-surveyed social group. First of all, check whether there are other surveys that run simultaneously; offer incentives; make sure the survey has a smartphone version; provide a personalized invitation to the survey; advertise it and explain students their benefits fom participation.
