Hi Si Hwa Heng,

In my opinion, it is impossible. Each element from Abaqus beam element library has predefined max number of IPs along the length which usually ensures exact integration of virtual work terms. Increasing of this number seems to be redundant.

Yes, I don't seem to find any guidelines on this too. If I am not wrong OpenSees can let the user define the number of IPs they want for a single element so I thought ABAQUS would be able to do the same.

The reason for wanting to increase the number of IPs per beam element is because I am only meshing a column with 2 elements so the column can buckle at midheight with a pre-defined imperfection of L/1000. Also, in the analysis model, there will be thousands of columns to be analysed and therefore, high number of elements per column will increase the computation time.
