I am doing strength analysis of the electric motor in abaqus. It is in three steps. in the first step the boundary conditions will be applied, in second step contact over closure between motor housing and stator with contact interference capability of abaqus which generate stress and strain in the part, third step is screw pretension force. Now, after completing analysis i get the results which is shown in the picture. I am mainly interested in the motor housing and can not change the thickness because of the weight issue. It has 3mm thickness. The maximum stress is at radius which is 3mm at flange. The material for the housing is steel with yield stress 330 MPa. In the picture grey Color is above yield strength. I have triad many geometries but has not much difference. some of them are in pictures. does any one have idea how can i increase the stiffness of the motor housing?
