I've read about low viscosity CMC as emulsifier that "long periods of heating CMC solutions at high temperatures (autoclaving) will degrade the product and permanently reduce viscosity. So, CMC is very difficult to sterilize. In addition, γ-Irradiation like heating will degrade CMC. On the other hand, high viscosity CMC is more adversely affected by autoclaving and irradiation than is low viscosity CMC. Therefore, I think that filtering CMC solutions tends to leave a gel behind because the material is fibrous and then using STMP can increase the viscosity of CMC through making crosslinks. Because STMP is kind of alkali metal that acts as crosslinking agent which is added one after the other in random order or simultaneously;
