Supercapacitors are the future they say but is there any way to use them only without any battery along. As I have read that MIT is doing research for the development of this but there has been no update till date... Here I would like know about how we can use them.
Supercapacitors are often coupled to DC/DC converters. To use the maximum energy stored in SC, high variability of the SC voltage is mandatory. Several time, the associated converter voltage ratio becomes too high and can produce instability of the system. Thus, at each time there is a minimal value for the SC voltage.
Newer supercapacitors' materials[1] might be able to accept a super-fast charge in electric vehicles as quickly as ... refueling a conventional car while 'threatening' to render lithium-ion batteries obsolete. However, EV-supercapacitors suffer from a gradual voltage loss, while batteries provide a (near-)constant voltage output until (most charge) spent in a common driving phase.
