I am trying to implement direct torque control algorithm on a PMSM using a TI MCU. However in my implementation the motor has very high torque ripples and eventually it comes to a halt. When I SET or CLEAR a GPIO to switch MOSFETS ON and OFF, the motor gets stuck and draws a huge current so I am using PWM to apply the voltage to motor terminals so that I can change the duty cycle. My question is what is the best way to apply voltages in DTC algorithm? Is there any source that has explained how the implementation should be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could you tell us watch kind of development sofware you are using? Directly through Code Composer Studio? Using Matlab/Simulink?
Also, what boards or components are you using exactly? A LaunchPad with a Boost driver pad?

I am using TI's Launchpad XL F28379D with Boostxl-DRV8301.
Also I have used CCS to directly write the code.

The built-in Field Oriented Control can be easy (depending on your motor) to implement with the help of tutorials.
Yes I have implemented FOC on my MCU successfully.
I am also sure about the DTC algorithm in my code, because I have implemented this algorithm in MATLAB and verified it in simulations. I think the main issue in my DTC implementation is in applying the voltage to motor terminals. As you know in order to turn on/off switches I can either set/clear a GPIO or use PWM on the GPIO.
When I set/clear the GPIOs to turn on/off the switches, the motor draws huge current and since I limit the current of the power supply, the motor comes to a halt. So I am using PWM for this purpose. But in all the papers I have seen that the whole VDC is used in DTC, not with a duty cycle.
How should I apply voltage in my algorithm?

in my opinion; when a PWM is utilized in such control schemes, the best adaptive fuzzy modulator is an alternative solution for reducing the undesired ripple .
