I have an ordinal mixed model with two categorical predictors with 3-4 groups. My question is how to or if I should decompose any significant main effects or interactions where the categorical predictors are present? The predictors are currently deviation coded and I know how to extract simple effects from binary categorical predictors (dummy coding), so I was just wondering if you'd do the same when there are more than two groups in a categorical predictor?
