i am using si(mm) unit system in Abaqus/explicit. i want to give the displacement controlled loading of 2.5mm/min to the rigid impactor. I tried to give this using velocity at reference point 0.041667mm/sec but i dont know how to give the smooth step velocity so that kinetic energy of the system would be less.

To give a smooth step velocity in Abaqus/explicit, you can use the *AMPLITUDE, *BOUNDARY and *INTERACTION commands.
*AMPLITUDE, NAME=VELOCITY, RAMP 0., 0. 1., 0.041667
*BOUNDARY RP, 3, 2, VELOCITY
This applies a velocity boundary condition in the y-direction (2) to the reference point RP (3), using the amplitude function defined earlier.
*SURFACE INTERACTION, NAME=IMPACT FRICTION=0.1, TYPE=NODE TO SURFACE, CONTACT PAIR=(IMPACTOR_SURFACE, TARGET_SURFACE), INTERACTION PROPERTY=HARDENING
Here, you can define the friction coefficient, contact type, contact pair, and the type of interaction property you want to use.
By defining the amplitude function, you can smoothly ramp up the velocity over a specified time period, which can help to reduce the kinetic energy of the system
