I am interested in developing an eco-friendly anti-corrosive and anti-fouling coating for marine vessel protection. During the development, I come across a few idea such as incorporating the super hydrophobic property. However, since I am only at the early stage, I needs some suggestion on what eco-friendly material I can use to make this possible.

a superhydrophobic coating could be obtained by using suitable surface texturing functionalized with specific hydrophobic molecule(s) applied using a mix of solvents and adjuvants, with the aim to obtain a chemically mechanically and thermically stable and homogeneous surface layer, having a low surface free energy (high surface contact angle).
It's not easy but you can try ....

dear Wan Mohamad Ikhmal; the super hydrophobic surface is formed by increasing the roughness of surface either by controlling the rate of deposition or coating method to reduce the surface free energy (increase the high surface contact angle) for more detail read this reference;

In nature, so many materials owns hydrophobic nature. For example CNT, CNF and PVDF. Development of hydrophobic surface is easy, but the real problem is mechanical durability. I hope you can understand the real problem of preparing hydrophobic coatings. I wish you can do the mentioned goal in the future.
