I read an article describing the use of super dehydrated EtOAc containing 2-ethyl-1-hexanol (0.01 mg/ml) in 400 ul mixture for volatile compound extraction. I tried to get appropriate product of 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, but available product is in pure liquid form meant for analytical standard. There is 2-ethyl-1-hexanol in solid form but sold as food grade.
How could I get solid 2-ethyl-1-hexanol to obtain the recommended concentration as EtOAc super dehydrated component which ultimately works during GCMS procedure? Thank you.
Pure 2-ethyl-1-hexanol is in liquid state at normal conditions of temperature and pressure, that's it. If you want it solid, you have to drastically change those conditions for example less than -70°C for ambient pressure.
Where did you find it solid? and what's the problem using it as a liquid?
Otherwise, you have to change mass and volume to get the equivalent amount you need using density, if that's the question.
