I have seen it in multiple research articles that authors use certain approaches to predict electric vehicle battery's state of charge(SoC) and then they compare it with battery's true SoC. So I wanna know how can I get this true SoC curve? Is it obtained using OCV method or Coulomb Counting method or any other technique?

Hi Syed, the validation of the SOC estimation methods are always conducted with the battery testers. The current sensor of the battery testers need to be quite accurate so that Coulomb Counting method can be used to calculate the real value of the SOC of the battery with the initial SOC of the battery determined based on the OCV-SOC relationship. The OCV-SOC relationship can also be measured by the battery tester under OCV test or qOCV test.

SOC is an estimation, there's no real SOC. I mean, you can validate the SOC under X tests in laboratory, but if you are discharging/charging the battery at high C-rates you'll have a cut-down before the SOC limit is reached because voltage will reach the limits before. Thus. It really depends on what do you understand by SOC:
a) Available capacity/total capacity under XXX conditions of lab
b) Available capacity/total capacity under current conditions...
