Hello, I have a thin metal layer in a square shape which is cut inside by a smaller square. Which ways of covering a polymer layer on it do you suggest apart from the spraying method ?
spin coating is a good technique for obtained a very uniform “thin” film (a few nm to a few µm) with a simple method. In particular, spin coating requires the optimization of the process; you need to study the parameter of spin coater like spin rate and time of spinning as well of the amout of the liquid used during deposition. The higher of spin rate and longer time will effect the thinnest the film. Finally you need to anneal (study on the suitable annealing temperature depends on the materials) the sample to ensure that to get the highest performance of the film.

Dip-Coating, Spin Coating, Spraying, and Drop-Coating with vibration all come to mind. For simplicity, I prefer the drop-coat, wipe, and vibrate method to put on a protective coating. Depends on the thickness of the layer and composition of the polymer. Best of luck on experiments!
