The graph attached is steady state absorption spectrum of dilute TIPS pentacene dissolved in chloroform.(black curve)
As the graph indicate, gaussians (green curve) can't fit the vibration progression of the first excited state transition. I wonder if there is any other transitions interfering the spectrum.
However, according to literature, there should not be CT states involved in such dilute solution. (no sign of aggregation neither)
So I'm stuck on this problem right now.
I'm not sure there is something up with the spectrum, perhaps it is just Origin's fitter that is not working so well (I am assuming you are using Origin?). Perhaps try another fitting software... Perhaps try Excel's solver tool? You may need to install this as it does not show up on the tool bar as a default but there is plenty of help online on how to do this. I hope this at least gives you something else to try.
