I have synthesized oxide glasses using melt-quench technique. Now i need to know the final composition of the glass after synthesis (asked by one of the reviewer of a journal). Which technique is used to calculate the final composition.
Energy dispersive spectroscopy, EDS, (or energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy EDX) combined with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) is the most versatile technique used to determine the composition of a sample.
A combination of methods of ICP-OES, XRF (or SEM-EDS), FTIR is useful for determining the compositions of a glass. Anyway, detecting precise fractions of light elements such as Li and B is always a challenge.
