i have collected sample, which contain 12.20 mg/l of iron, pH is 6.6 and Eh is 105 mV, Aquifer rock is Charnockite and sample was collected in bore well. My doubt is , which of the source dominated for this much of iron content in groundwater.Is there any other methods to find out sources of iron and also for other trace elements.
The source of iron in groundwater is naturally occurring, ex from iron minerals or rocks.
you might use a spectrophotometer ex XFS, XRD, AA, UV-visible.., or use electrochemical method to determine its cincentration or to find out its sources.

Iron is frequently associated with the manganese with which it has the property of co-precipitate. Iron is found in solution in the oxygen-deprived water. Depending on the case, it may exist in the colloidal state, in the form of organic or inorganic complexes. Iron and manganese are metallic elements present in many types of rock. Iron and manganese are often found in the natural state together. The most common sources of iron and manganese in groundwater are natural; it may be for example of the weathering of rocks and minerals containing it, as amphiboles, micas ferromagnesian, sulfides of iron, magnetite, oxides, carbonates, as well as clay minerals ferruginous. Iron and manganese are often present naturally in deep wells where groundwater has little or no oxygen, as well as in areas where the water flows through soils rich in organic compounds. Industrial effluent, acid mine drainage waters, sewage and leachate from sites landfill can also contribute to the presence of iron and manganese in groundwater.

Dear Professors and friend , i have done my trace elements analysis by using AAS. Here my doubt is , how to find the source of this higher concentration. Is there any other correlation with other parameters and other metals like manganese.
