We find LSV for current density vs potential and convert the potential to SHE. Then we get tafel plot by plotting overpotential vs log current density. How do we find theoverpotential? If overpotential is potential-standard potential, then std potential of hydrogen is 0 V. Then the applied potential and overpotential value has to be same. But in all articles, the value is different for potential and overpotential. Please explain..

Could you put one example of your problem here? Also the problem in the literature that you saw. Over potential is E- Eeq. Eeq of electrode depends also on pH which you use.
E(RHE) = E (Ref) + E0 (Ref) + 0.059pH, where in 0.5 M H2SO4 is pH 0.
