I have prepared a suspension of bacteria and phages. I attempted to filter it using 0.2 μm filters with a vacuum pump, but the filtrate remained unclear; in fact, bacteria were present in it (as confirmed by microscopy).

Then I tried to filter with the syringes, but the screw-in filters became immediately clogged and I could not filter more than a few drops of the suspension.

How can I filter the suspension? Shall I centrifuge the suspension first (2000 x 5 min?) and then filter? Can I use only centrifugation to isolate the phages?

Thank you
