I am working on an in-home numerical code for simulation of a Fluid Dynamic problem. I need implementing the different fuels properties (thermal conductivity, heat capacity, liquid vapor pressure etc.) in my code. I would like to use the standard libraries of OpenFoam or ANSYS. So, could you please tell me whether it would be possible or not?
Just to mention: the material libraries of ANSYS software packages are provided under the terms and conditions of the licensing agreement and it would be highly illegal to use those extracted properties with a different solver. If you personally don't, your manager has probably a well developed understanding of the legal situation.
OpenFoam is under an Open Source License. But this by far does not mean, that you are free to extract any code component for any other purpose. Essentially it means, that if you extract pieces of code from OpenFoam, than you are obliged to mention it and automatically your in-house CFD code, where this code/properties/etc. are used, becomes subject of the same Open Source License as well.
Couldn't you "simply" use some of the openly available chemical kinetics mechanisms, e.g. GRI 3.0? They have their own sets of transport properties for various species, and to my knowledge, they can be freely used for code development, as long as properly cited.
