Soil receives C inputs to offset C outputs resulting from microbial decomposition of soil organic matter. This C input decreases along the soil profile because top soils receive more C such as litter fall than sub-soils. But. how fast is this decrease?

For example, if the annual C inputs to the soil is 10 tonnes per hectare, what's the distribution of the 10 tonnes C along the soil profile? Let's say the soil depth is 2 meters.  It is safe to assume that **% (e.g., 80%) of C inputs is in the top xx m soil (e.g., 0.3 m).
