I am designing a solvothermal experiment and need to select a safe vessel and experimental condition. The solvent is acetonitrile, maximum temperature 220°C, haven't decided on the fill level. I couldn't find any literature on estimating the pressure by a quick search. There are PT diagrams for water though. One thing I don't understand is why the pressure could be higher than the vapor pressure at a given temperature? Shouldn't the liquid and gas phase be at an equilibrium once the vapor pressure is reached under subcritical conditions?

Your help is much appreciated!
