Hello to all,

could someone please help me to establish a quantitative correlation between the intensity/duration of the grinding and the broadening of XRD peaks ?

I do high energy grinding (mecano chemistry) on inorganic material and I would like to demonstrate by XRD measurement that the high energy grinding leads to the amoprhization of the material. But it is not so easy due to the different sources of peak broadning: size effect, strain effect and amorphization effect. How to determine which one is preponderant ? PSD analysis show that particles size are > 1µm. So could we assume that size broadening effect is minor ? In this case, I think strain broadening is preponderant. But how to quantify amorphization rate of the high energy grinding ?

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Eric
